Curators approve plans to move forward on Biosciences Complex

The third and final phase of the Biosciences Complex at Missouri S&T is included in the list of major construction and renovation projects approved by the University of Missouri System Board of Curators on Nov. 10. The curators’ approval of this project — further renovation and expansion of Schrenk Hall, which houses the chemistry and biological sciences departments — means it is now on a short list of capital projects that includes a project from each University of Missouri System campus and MU Health Care, or five projects in all. These projects will be further evaluated for consideration at a March 2018 meeting of the Board of Curators Finance Committee. Get more details.

Share your thoughts on donated leave program

The University of Missouri System is looking into the possibility of creating a donated leave program, and Missouri S&T representatives of the UM System committee want to hear thoughts on the program from faculty and staff. Cuba Plain, interim vice chancellor of finance and operations, will host open forums at the following times and locations:

  • 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A

It’s time to enroll for health insurance

Annual enrollment for benefit-eligible employees begins today (Monday, Oct. 16) and will end Friday, Oct. 27. It is your opportunity to decide which insurance works best for you. Here are a few ways you can learn more about changes coming in 2018 and your options:

  • Visit the University of Missouri System’s Annual enrollment site.
  • Attend a presentation 9-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, in St. Pat’s A of the Havener Center.
  • Contact Marcia Lane, human resources generalist, at lanema@mst.edu, to host a department presentation, schedule a one-on-one session or ask your individual questions about insurance options and the annual enrollment process.

 If you do not choose by midnight Friday, Oct. 27, you will default to the Healthy Savings plan at the non-discounted rate and pay taxes on your monthly premiums for coverage beginning Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.

Training open to UM System employees, grad students

The University of Missouri System Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will sponsor training with faculty from the Social Justice Training Institute 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the MU Student Center in Columbia. The training is open to faculty, staff and graduate students from across the UM System and will be capped at 60 participants. Applications are due by Friday, Oct. 27.
