Reduce stress with meditation

Faculty, staff and students are invited to stress reduction mindfulness-meditation sessions noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Shamrock Room of the Havener Center. The sessions are not a class but rather guided meditations designed to relieve stress, with a few moments for questions or sharing of insights.

Changes announced for mindfulness stress reduction program

Missouri S&T’s mindfulness-based stress reduction meditation program has been affected by recent changes. Due to budget reductions, the University of Missouri System’s Total Rewards program will not fund the eight-week, in-person class previously offered on Missouri S&T’s campus. Online versions of the class are available.

Take a stress reduction class

Stress-reduction meditation is offered on a drop-in basis with no pre-registration needed 12:15-12:45 p.m. every Wednesday in the Shamrock Room of the Havener Center. Classes meet every week university classes are in session during the fall and spring. No classes are held during finals weeks or in the summer. Participants will generally be led through stress-reducing breathing techniques for 30 minutes. Join in and stay for a question-and-answer session afterwards 12:45-1 p.m. No experience is needed and the class is free.

Lower your stress in eight weeks

Healthy for Life invites the campus community to join a program with three decades of research showing its effectiveness at helping people who are coping with job or family-related stress, depression, anxiety or other medical problems. The eight-week “Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program” provides tools for responding to the stress associated with illness and everyday life with greater skill and creativity using formal mindfulness techniques and information about stress, communication and wellness.
