Watkins named SPIE fellow

Dr. Steve Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering, is the 2017 president-elect of the honor society for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN). In 2018, he will lead the honor society as president and will chair the board of governors.

Missouri S&T was well represented at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Midwest Section annual meeting and conference Sept. 25-27 in Manhattan, Kansas. S&T earned the Faculty-Mile award for attendance. The section includes states of Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Watkins Elected to IEEE Education Society Board

Dr. Steve E. Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering, was elected to the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Education Society Board of Governors. The three-year term will run 2016-2018. Watkins was one of four at-large members elected — the entire board consists of society officers, 12 at-large members and committee chairs.

Dr. Steve E. Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering at S&T, is a candidate for Zone III chair-elect with the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). If elected, Watkins would serve as chair-elect and then chair for Zone III, which includes the central portions of the U.S. and Canada. Ballots are included in the March issue of the ASEE’s PRISM magazine and must be cast by Monday, March 31.
