Missouri S&T has sold its SILO House, the 2017 Solar House Design Team project and the team’s entry in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2017 Solar Decathlon, to the city of Denver. The house will serve as moderate- to low-income housing through non-profit organizations.
Missouri S&T’s Solar House Team placed fourth overall in the U.S. Department of Energy’s international Solar Decathlon in Denver. The team also placed third in the competition’s architecture and innovation category. The house is named SILO (Smart Innovative Living Oasis).
Allan Metcalf, a writer for The Chronicle of Higher Education, writes about Dr. Gerald Cohen’s research on etymology in Metcalf’s article, “Breaking News: I’m From Missouri.” Cohen is a professor of Rusisian and German languages at S&T.
