Now is the time for students interested in study-abroad trips to make plans. Encourage students to check out pce.mst.edu/credit for details. Faculty-led trips will include:

  • England, May 19-June 6, History 3530: History of Science, led by Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, associate professor of history and political science
  • Italy, June 10-26, Psych 4992: Cross-cultural Psychology, led by Dr. Jessica Cundiff, assistant professor of psychological science, and Dr. Jillian Schmidt, assistant teaching professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Peru, March 22-April 1, Geo Eng 6407: Inca Civilization Geotechnical Engineering Practices, led by Dr. Neil Anderson, professor of geology

Sheppard shines light on first American female Egyptologist

Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, associate professor of history and political science, edited a volume of historical archaeological correspondence. The book, “My Dear Miss Ransom…”: Letters between Caroline Ransom Williams and James Henry Breasted, 1898-1935, chronicles the conversations between the first American female Egyptologist and her colleague.

Sheppard co-sponsors THATCamp in Toronto

Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, associate professor of history and political science, co-organized and co-led the History of Science Society’s fourth annual The Humanities and Technology Camp, or THATCamp, on Nov. 12 in Toronto, Canada. The event was an “unconference,” in which the schedule was determined by participants. People of all experience levels were welcome to interact, try out new applications, ask questions, give advice and learn.

Grants awarded for faculty-led study abroad program

The Missouri S&T Study Abroad Advisory Committee awarded $25,000 in grant funds to assist in developing faculty-led short-term study abroad programs.
