Costumes spice up staff appreciation event
The drizzly weather didn’t put a damper on yesterday’s Fall Staff Appreciation Day at the Puck. Staff members came out and painted pumpkins, toasted marshmallows at a s’mores station and danced. The S&T Store will offer the following:
- The S&T Store will host a “Joe Friday” sale Friday, Oct. 25. Save 25 percent on Miner clothing, gifts and gear from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the store and from midnight to midnight online.
- Stop by the S&T Store 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Halloween (Wednesday, Oct. 31) to enter the store’s annual costume contest. Prizes will be awarded.
- The S&T Store will hold a one-day sale on Apple products Wednesday, Nov. 14. Customers can pre-order at thesandtstore.com for an additional discount on the discounted education prices.
Enter to win prizes at staff celebration, sign up for costume contest
Drop by the Fall Staff Appreciation Day 8:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck and enter to win a door prize. All attendees are eligible to enter the prize drawing and do not need to be present to win. To get an extra ticket for the prize drawing, bring an item to donate to the Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise (GRACE) or the Rolla Mission. Click here for a list of items. The schedule includes:
- 8 a.m.: Drop off your decorated pumpkin for the pumpkin decorating contest.
- 8:30 a.m.-noon: Games, music, pumpkin painting and refreshments (s’mores, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, candy and popcorn)
- 9-11 a.m.: Monster massage (chair massages)
- 9:30-10 a.m.: Live costume contest (sign up here)
Chili cook-off, costume contest coming up
Join the engineering management and systems engineering department at the EMSE chili cook-off and Halloween costume contest Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the second-floor lobby of the Engineering Management Building. The costume contest will run 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Entrants do not need to be present for judging. The winner will be notified by email.

In appreciation for the work and dedication of S&T staff, Staff Council invites all staff to join them for Fall Staff Appreciation Day 8:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Missouri Ozark Room of the Havener Center.

Missouri S&T’s Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and University Police will host a 5K run and walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Rolla Lion’s Club Park to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Register by Friday, Sept. 21, for a discounted fee of $20 per person.

Halloween is coming and the campus will be crawling with festivities on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Here are seven ways to slay the holiday:
- Stop by the S&T Store for a costume contest and Halloween-themed games, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Come in costume to Staff Council’s Fall appreciation event for staff, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Puck.
- Keep your costume on and warm up with a bowl of chili at the engineering management and systems engineering department’s annual Halloween costume contest and chili cook-off, with lunch served 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Enter Missouri S&T’s carved pumpkin contest by posting a picture of your S&T-themed pumpkin on Missouri S&T’s Facebook page by noon.
- Bring your little goblins to trick-or-treat at “Trunk-or-Treat” 4-8 p.m. in the University Commons parking lot, Lot H, located on University Drive.
- Delve into a deeply disturbing den at the Haunted Mine, 6-11 p.m. at the Missouri S&T Experimental Mine at 12350 Spencer Road.
- Last but not least, make sure you have completed your annual University of Missouri System training requirements by midnight.
Scare up some fun at staff event on Halloween
Employees work hard and Staff Council wants to say “thanks” at an appreciation event for staff 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. Come enjoy snacks and hot drinks by a campfire, bring a decorated or carved pumpkin for a contest and dress up for a costume contest. The event will also include prize drawings and games.
