Halloween is coming and the community will be crawling with festivities on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Here are six ways to make it a frighteningly fun day:
- Stop by the S&T Store 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to enter the store’s annual costume contest. Prizes will be awarded.
- Drop by the Fall Staff Appreciation Day 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Puck. The event will feature prize drawings, a live costume contest 9:30-10 a.m., chair massages, fall-themed refreshments and more.
- Join the engineering management and systems engineering department at the EMSE Halloween costume contest 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and chili cook-off 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Simon J. Bronner will present a talk titled “Why does the Boogieman come out at Halloween? On the Origin and Meaning of Frightening Figures in Folk and Popular Culture” 3-4 p.m. in Room 103 Engineering Management Building.
- Bring your children to Boo-Palooza, 5-7 p.m. on Pine Street in downtown Rolla.
- End your day at the Haunted Mine, open 6-11 p.m. at S&T’s Experimental Mine.
