Spook-tacular events coming up
As Halloween approaches, several departments and organizations will hold events with spooky themes. Mark your calendar for the following events:
- Graduate Family Spooky Fall Festival, noon-2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Puck
- Haunted Mine, open 6-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, Saturday, Oct. 26, Thursday, Oct. 31, and Friday, Nov. 1, at Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine
- Evening of ghost stories, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in the Black Box Theatre
- Haunted maze, open Friday, Oct. 25, Saturday, Oct. 26, Thursday, Oct. 31, Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house
- Games hosted by the Humans vs. Zombies student organization, Monday, Oct. 28,
through Saturday, Nov. 2, throughout campus - Boo-Palooza, 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, on Pine Street in Rolla
- EMSE chili cook-off and Halloween costume contest, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in Room 223
Engineering Management Building and the lobby, Thursday, Oct. 31 - Staff Fall Festival hosted by Staff Council, 8:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. Costume contestants and winners will be announced at 11 a.m.
Haunted Mine now open
Mining engineering students will “haunt” Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine this Halloween season.

Bring your goblins to Boo-Palooza
Dress in your Halloween best and help turn Pine Street into “treat street” 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Missouri S&T student organizations and local businesses will welcome trick-or-treaters to Pine Street for activities, games, entertainment and candy.

Get your Halloween costume ready. Missouri S&T’s Staff Council will host an appreciation event for staff 8:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. The schedule includes:

Costumes spice up staff appreciation event
The drizzly weather didn’t put a damper on yesterday’s Fall Staff Appreciation Day at the Puck. Staff members came out and painted pumpkins, toasted marshmallows at a s’mores station and danced. The S&T Store will offer the following:
- The S&T Store will host a “Joe Friday” sale Friday, Oct. 25. Save 25 percent on Miner clothing, gifts and gear from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the store and from midnight to midnight online.
- Stop by the S&T Store 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Halloween (Wednesday, Oct. 31) to enter the store’s annual costume contest. Prizes will be awarded.
- The S&T Store will hold a one-day sale on Apple products Wednesday, Nov. 14. Customers can pre-order at thesandtstore.com for an additional discount on the discounted education prices.
Enter to win prizes at staff celebration, sign up for costume contest
Drop by the Fall Staff Appreciation Day 8:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck and enter to win a door prize. All attendees are eligible to enter the prize drawing and do not need to be present to win. To get an extra ticket for the prize drawing, bring an item to donate to the Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise (GRACE) or the Rolla Mission. Click here for a list of items. The schedule includes:
- 8 a.m.: Drop off your decorated pumpkin for the pumpkin decorating contest.
- 8:30 a.m.-noon: Games, music, pumpkin painting and refreshments (s’mores, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, candy and popcorn)
- 9-11 a.m.: Monster massage (chair massages)
- 9:30-10 a.m.: Live costume contest (sign up here)
