The Missouri S&T community is saddened to learn of the death of Barbara Wilkins, former lecturer in mathematics and statistics and instructional designer. She was also an S&T alumna, earning her bachelor’s degree in history in 1994 and a master’s degree in mathematics in 2006.

Barbara Wilkins, an instructional designer in educational technology, and Paul Runnion, associate teaching professor of mathematics and statistics, presented a paper at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in San Diego in January. The paper is titled “Digging Out of the Hole — One Solution for Struggling Calculus Students.” Read the abstract.

Barbara Wilkins, an instructional designer in educational technology, served as a panelist for a panel on the role of gaming in education during Gen Con 50 in Indianapolis in August. The group discussed gaming for students in elementary grades and through university levels, along with ways to promote student success and how gaming may enhance workplace skills. Gen Con 50 is the longest-running gaming convention in the world.
