University of Missouri System’s accounts payable shared services team will present “Employee Reimbursements in Travel and Expense Module” at two sessions Monday, March 13, in the Carver Room of the Havener Center. The training is designed for employees who work directly with these transactions, approve them or supervise employees who do. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Choose to attend training at 10-11:30 a.m. or 1-2:30 p.m. Register on the accounts payable shared services site.

STEP UP! will present an award at the Student Leaders’ Awards Banquet Wednesday, April 12. Please consider nominating a Missouri S&T student who meets the following criteria:

• currently enrolled at Missouri S&T
• strives to live the STEP UP! values of awareness, intervention and inclusion
• is involved in campus or community activities that support the STEP UP! values
• has received STEP UP! training or is aware of the STEP UP! program

Dr. Larry Gragg, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of history, will be the featured speaker at the next Research on Tap lecture at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the Public House Brewing Co. Gragg will speak about Missouri S&T history in conjunction with the university’s upcoming sesquicentennial, or 150-year anniversary, in 2020.

The campus community is invited to hear Miha Britt, attorney at Britt Immigration Law LLC, discuss the recent executive order related to immigration during “Building Bridges – Dialogue to Strengthen Community” at 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Room B-10 Bertelsmeyer Hall. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask Britt questions about current policies and their legal implications related to higher education and international student visas. The event is sponsored by Missouri S&T’s international and cultural affairs office.

Trying to strike a healthy work-life balance? The Human Resources, Equity and Inclusion (HREI) division is seeking input on a proposal about programs and policies to present faculty and staff with a set of options that can be customized to individual situations. Please examine this draft proposal, Work-Life Design Portfolio of Programs and Policies, and provide your comments and suggestions to Anitra Rivera, director of special projects for HREI, by Wednesday, March 1.

The Office of Strategy, Planning and Assessment has released an outcomes booklet highlighting student, faculty and staff innovation proposals. These proposals were presented at the campus Miner Tank event in fiscal year 2016. Proposals included student design team projects, cancer research and more. Proposal funding was secured from the campus Innovation team. View the booklet.

Amy Skyles, instructional designer in educational technology, will present “Enhanced Instruction and Advising Using Canvas Analytics,” noon-1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center. Children ages 4 and older can take swimming lessons from the Miner Swim Team April 3-13 at the S&T pool in the Gale Bullman Building. Signups for the lessons will be held 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Missouri S&T Pool and will be limited to the first 90 applicants. Session preference is on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of the lessons is $85 per swimmer.
