Curriculum development grants available for faculty

The Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI) is accepting proposals for the 2018-19 cycle of the Curriculum Development Faculty Grant program. These grants support the planning, development and implementation of new, sustainable curriculum or instruction that infuses one or more of the following skill sets into the undergraduate student experience: entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, innovation, design-thinking and leadership.

Nominations for Joe Mooney Distinguished Student Awards due March 1

The Joe Mooney Distinguished Student Award recognizes leadership and service by S&T students who are in their sophomore or junior years. One award is given to an outstanding member of a recognized student organization; another is given to an outstanding officer of a recognized student organization. Selected students will each receive $1,000. Nominations are due by Thursday, March 1. To submit a nomination, please visit the Miner Alumni Association website.

Deadline approaches for mini-grant letter of intent

All faculty and staff planning to submit a proposal for the Educational Research Mini-Grant program should submit a letter of intent to the CERTI office by Thursday, March 1. Please email the letter of intent to certi@mst.edu or mail the letter to 207 Norwood Hall, with the title of your project and a brief, 100-word abstract.

Apply for grants to save students money on textbooks

Grants are available through the University of Missouri System’s Affordable & Open Educational Resources (A&OER) initiative. The program encourages faculty experimentation and innovation in finding new, better and less costly ways to deliver learning materials to students. Military blood drive planned Feb. 27

The Armed Services Blood Program will host a blood drive 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb.  27, in Room 302 Harris Hall. It is open to everyone age 17 and older, both military and civilian. Blood collected at this drive will go to medical facilities in Afghanistan and other overseas contingency areas, as well as military hospitals throughout the Department of Defense.

Women in business: Take a 5-minute survey

Women in business are invited to take a short survey to help determine when a group for women in business would meet, what it would be called and what it would offer. The survey was developed based on feedback from focus group participants in January. Although focused on women, anyone is welcome to take the survey.

Leach Theatre open for walkers

Leach Theatre’s steps challenge has concluded but the theater will remain open for walkers 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Friday, March 23. The auditorium and lobby will be open for those who wish to walk indoors.

Normal operations resume at Missouri S&T today

The Missouri S&T campus is open for business today. Classes will be held as scheduled and all operations will function as normal. Temperatures are expected to warm throughout the day. Rolla streets and sidewalks are mostly clear of ice, but there may be slick spots, so use caution when driving and walking.
