All invited to workshop on student learning improvement

All S&T faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to a workshop on enhancing student learning and success 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, in the Kinyon-Koeppel Grand Hall at Hasselmann Alumni House. Dr. Dan McInerney, professor of history at Utah State University, will present the workshop about best practices in assessing student learning for improvement. Register for the workshop.

Passing of Lance Corbett Feyh

Lance Corbett Feyh, a former staff member, died July 12. He worked in communications at Missouri S&T from 1998-2000 and 2005-2012. His articles were published in several university materials, including Missouri S&T Magazine and online, such as “The world really is a small (and awesome) place” about Celebration of Nations.

Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine is getting national exposure on a TV show called Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour on the A&E Network. Tune in at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, July 18). The time is listed as 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (ET) on the website but will air at 8 p.m. Central Standard Time (CT). Watch a preview of tonight’s show, “I am Ice Cream Man.”

Passing of former student reported, funeral services planned

Missouri S&T has received notification of the death of Steven Swiney, who died on July 6. Swiney was a former S&T student from Arnold, Missouri, and a member of Phi Kappa Theta. Visitation services will be held 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Kutis Funeral Home, located at 5355 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, at Kutis Funeral Home.
