Driving his Pinto into retirement

Dr. Gary Mueller, a longtime professor of nuclear engineering at S&T, recently retired after 40 years of service. The hundreds of students he taught through the decades no doubt remember him not only for his support and mentorship, but also for his 1977 Ford Pinto Cruise Wagon. “My students obsessed over my Pinto,” Mueller says.

Compliance corner: When students work for faculty members in outside interests

Often students become involved in businesses or companies in which faculty members have an outside interest. A conflict of interest may exist in this situation. In these cases, the Conflict of Interest Committee determines if a faculty member has a conflict regarding the student.

Use green label, boxes with lids for records disposal

Departments with confidential or sensitive documents that are not records, or that are beyond their retention period, may either dispose of those records themselves in a method that makes record recognition impossible, or send the records to the Records Center in Columbia for disposal. Records sent to the Records Center should be placed in boxes no larger than a standard copy paper box. Boxes must have lids and be securely taped for transport.

Library renovation underway

A construction project is underway to renovate the exterior of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library. Portion of Lot C-11 to close temporarily

The east side of parking Lot C-11, located across from Castleman Hall, will be closed Friday, Sept. 18, to allow for parking for the funeral service. The west side of the lot will remain open for Lot C permit holders.
