Open forum for academic leaders search

Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader invites the campus community to attend upcoming open forums regarding the search process for new campus leaders. During the forums, Dr. Schrader will outline where the university is at in the search process for specific positions and welcome input on what the university should be looking for in its next leaders.

The forums will be held in St. Pat’s C of the Havener Center, as follows:

  • Noon Monday, Nov. 4, vice provost and dean (arts, business, education, humanities and sciences)
  • Noon Tuesday, Nov. 5, vice provost and dean (engineering)

Nominate adult learner for ACE award

Do you know someone who has used American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations and overcome great odds to pursue a degree? Help honor that achievement by nominating him or her to become ACE’s Adult Learner of the Year. ACE will honor the winner at its annual meeting next March in San Diego. This year’s Adult Learner of the Year will receive a $500 scholarship from ACE to continue his or her education.

Passing of James Wise

James N. Wise, professor emeritus in English and technical communication at S&T, died on Oct. 29. A memorial service will be announced in the future. Memorials are suggested to the Rolla Public Library Children’s Fund, or Lucy Wortham James Library in St. James, Mo.

Passing of Charles Carroll

Charles Frederic Carroll, father of Douglas R. Carroll, program director for S&T’s Cooperative Engineering Program with Missouri State University, died on Oct. 31. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National in Springfield, Mo.

Annual community buffet lunch Nov. 19

The annual holiday community buffet lunch will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center. Tickets for the lunch are $11. Fifteen percent of proceeds will go to the Phelps County Community Partnership. University employees and the local community are all welcome. RSVP online by Friday, Nov. 15.

Planned server outage tonight

Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Oct. 31, and lasting until 2 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, IT will perform maintenance on the campus DFS servers. During this outage all S&T user accounts may not be able to access their personal network drives, also known as an S: drive or dfs/users. Data will not be affected by the change. If you have questions or require IT assistance, contact the IT Help Desk at 341-4357(HELP), visit the Walk-In Center on the first floor of the library or submit a ticket online at help.mst.edu.
