Tobacco-free campus resources available online

In less than a month, Missouri S&T will become a tobacco-free university. A new website, tobaccofree.mst.edu, is now available with resources to help campus community members with the transition to a tobacco-free campus. The site also includes information on how to quit tobacco use, available resources for students, faculty and staff, and how to address violations of the policy once it goes into effect on Aug. 1. A map showing boundaries of the campus will also be posted on the website soon.

Passing of Barbara Summers

Barbara Lois Summers, the wife of Dr. David A. Summers, Curators’ Professor Emeritus of mining engineering, died Friday, July 1. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at Christ Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Null and Son Funeral Home. Joe’SS was upgraded this past weekend to a new version of PeopleTools. The upgrade went well and Joe’SS is back up and running. It is suggested that users clear their cache on their computer to ensure that the new version runs smoothly. Internet Explorer users will need to redo any bookmarks referencing Joe’SS.

Nominate members of Staff Council

Elections for 2016-17 vacant positions on Staff Council are here. Staff Council will have five vacant positions to fill. To nominate someone for Staff Council, visit the Staff Council website. You may nominate yourself or any other eligible staff member at Missouri S&T. Any “benefit eligible” employee with at least one (1) year service before July 1, 2016, is eligible for election to the Staff Council. Nominations (by electronic form) must be received no later than Friday, July 15. Election procedures and a list of current council members can be found on the Staff Council website.
