Women are needed to volunteer as workshop presenters and group guides for attendees of the 18th annual Expanding Your Horizons conference, which will be held Friday, Nov. 17, on S&T’s campus. Seventh- and eighth-grade girls learn about careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The event brings more than 450 students to campus.

The Community Partnership is holding a summer camp, Camp Capable, for children ages 6-16 with special needs. Missouri S&T’s student life team is helping the camp recruit “buddies” to partner with campers 1-4 p.m. Monday, July 31, through Wednesday, Aug. 2. Buddies will hang out with campers while they participate in activities such as adapted dance, swimming and kayaking. Faculty participation is vital when welcoming new students to campus. More than 1,400 new students will be on campus in August for Opening Week orientation. This is your chance to give new students tips on how to be successful in the classroom. The faculty interaction portion of Opening Week is scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 15, Wednesday, Aug. 16, and Thursday, Aug. 17. Three time slots are available each day:
- 10:45-11:25 a.m.
- 11:40 a.m.-12:20 p.m.
- 12:35-1:15 p.m.
Running judges needed for Opening Week
Student success programs seeks running judges to assist Opening Week mentor teams during their track competition. Judging will be from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. Volunteer judges may pick any timeframe or stay the day.
