Audience of seventh- and eighth-grade girls listen to an Expanding Your Horizons speaker in 2016.

Women volunteers are urgently needed to serve as campus guides for the hundreds of attendees of the 18th annual Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference Friday, Nov. 17, on S&T’s campus. Please sign at eyh.mst.edu to volunteer by Wednesday, Nov. 1, or contact professional and continuing education at 341-6222.

Female staff, faculty, students and community members are encouraged to volunteer. Volunteer guides help groups of attendees navigate to workshops throughout campus. Volunteer hours are 8:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Lunch is provided for all volunteers who RSVP.

Two 15-minute volunteer training sessions will be available prior to the conference, at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Volunteers need to attend only one of the sessions. The volunteer information can also be emailed to attendees who register online.

Expanding Your Horizons introduces seventh- and eighth-grade girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. Attendees participate in two hands-on activities and workshops that demonstrate the range of STEM fields offered at Missouri S&T. They also have the opportunity to hear a keynote speaker, meet peers who share their interests, and hear from professional women in traditionally male-dominated fields.
