Faculty participation is vital when welcoming new students to campus. More than 1,400 new students will be on campus in August for Opening Week orientation. During this time, faculty can eat lunch and meet with student mentor groups to discuss various topics, ranging from classroom civility, faculty expectations, your department, research opportunities and anything else you feel they should know. This is your chance to give new students tips on how to be successful in the classroom.

The faculty interaction portion of Opening Week is scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 15, Wednesday, Aug. 16, and Thursday, Aug. 17. Three time slots are available each day:

  • 10:45-11:25 a.m.
  • 11:40 a.m.-12:20 p.m.
  • 12:35-1:15 p.m.

Faculty support is needed and appreciated. If you can help, please attend a short informational and planning session 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, August 14, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center. To participate, please contact Garrett Coffey, student support specialist, at coffeyg@mst.edu with your availability.
