Earn a discount on insurance by being tobacco free

In 2016, the University of Missouri System will give faculty and staff a discount on medical insurance premiums if they can certify that individuals and family members covered under an insurance plan are tobacco free. Participants will be asked to certify during October’s annual enrollment. Find tobacco cessation help online at http://umurl.us/tobacco. Many free and low-cost options are available, even if you aren’t enrolling in a medical insurance plan.

Visitor parking for PLTW

Over 260 participants will visit campus during the next two weeks for Project Lead The Way (PLTW). Parking lot operations asks the campus for patience with parking availability during this time. S&T group to raise money for injured university employee

Brian Smith, a mechanical trades specialist (MTS)-refrigeration mechanic in student affairs auxiliary services, was recently in a serious accident while riding his motorcycle. Smith now needs several surgeries and faces a lengthy recovery. The Rider’s Society, a registered student organization on campus, has created a gofundme.com account to aid in Smith’s recovery.

Murray named interim chair of psychological science

Oak Ridge vice president to speak on campus

Dr. Arlene Garrison, vice president for university partnerships at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), will speak on-campus at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in Room 124 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Oerther selected to attend 2015 Keck Futures Conference

Dr. Daniel Oerther, the John A. and Susan Mathes Chair of Environmental Engineering at Missouri S&T, has been selected to participate in the National Academies Keck Futures Conference titled “Art and Science, Engineering, and Medicine Frontier Collaborations: Ideation, Translation and Realization.” The conference will be held Nov. 12-14 at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, California.

Wellness chair massages offered soon

Healthy for Life is sponsoring 15-minute chair massages for employees. Massages will be offered 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesdays between July 1 and Aug. 5 in Room 204 Centennial Hall. The cost is $15 for 15 minutes. To register for a massage, email Amanda Hunter-Kelley or call 466-9084. Registration is required and a minimum of 10 people must be registered for the date.
