Complete Tier 2 of the Wellness Incentive

Continue your journey to health and wellness by completing Tier 2 of the 2015 Wellness Incentive by Wednesday, Sept. 30, to earn $300 in your final October paycheck. You must have completed Tier 1 in order to participate in Tier 2. Taxes and voluntary retirement elections are deducted from incentive earnings.

Passing of Harry W. Weart

Dr. Harry W. Weart, former chair of metallurgical engineering, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, in Vero Beach, Florida. Weart served as chair of the department from 1964 to 1992. Hackathon for Humanity kickoff

To celebrate computer science’s Golden Jubilee, the department will hold a Hackathon for Humanity (H4H) event. The campus community is invited to the hackathon kickoff, which will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in Room 209 Computer Science Building. The H4H is a competition that challenges participants to create a mobile app (iOS or Android) or a web app that is beneficial to society. There is $2,000 in prize money available to participants. Orientation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22. Classes will be held every Tuesday evening from Sept. 29 through Nov. 17 with a full-day retreat on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Army ROTC to fire cannon today

The Army ROTC cannon crew will conduct crew certification 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. They will fire 12-gauge blanks intermittently between 2 and 3 p.m. The blanks make noise and smoke only. No projectile will be fired.
