Open forums coming up for CEC dean candidates
Three candidates for the vice provost and dean position in the College of Engineering and Computing have been invited for campus interviews beginning next week and concluding before commencement on Saturday, May 13. The search committee invites all faculty, students and staff to participate in the process, which will include forums for each candidate.
The candidates’ names, bios and curriculum vitae will be released during the timeframe of each candidate’s visit. An itinerary is being finalized for each candidate. Times and locations will be announced in eConnection.

Area M, Lot 36 between McNutt Hall and the Engineering Research Laboratory will close at 3 p.m. Friday, April 21, and must be completely empty by 6 p.m. for a fireworks display after the concert. If the lot is not cleared, the fireworks display will be cancelled. Area M, Lot 19 will remain open. Parking operations is aware of the event and will not issue tickets to Lot M permit holders who park in other campus lots. All other parking rules must be observed. Parking Area B Lot 13, Lot V for visitors and Miner Circle Drive from the Campus Support Building to State Street will be closed from 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, through 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, for a block party and concert sponsored by the student union board (SUB). Parking Area B Lot 13 and Lot V for visitors are located near the Campus Support Facility and Havener Center. (See a parking map at police.mst.edu/parking.) Access to this area will not be available. The other Area B lots (B-7, B-22 and B-26) will be open. Parking operations is aware of the event and will not issue tickets to Lot B permit holders who park in other campus lots. More than 600 participants in the Technology Students Association (TSA) championships will be on campus from Sunday, April 23, through Tuesday, April 25. Participants include middle school students and high school students and advisors, judges and parents. Busses will drop students off at the Havener Center in the morning and park near Gale Bullman. To allow the buses space to maneuver, the west side of Area B, Lot 13 will be closed. Parking operations will not issue tickets to Lot B permit holders who park in other campus lots.

The Missouri S&T Observatory will open its doors at 10 p.m. Thursday, April 27, for viewing Messier 13, and again at midnight on April 27 for viewing the Ring Nebula. Messier 13 is a globular cluster of about 300,000 stars in Hercules. The Ring Nebula, or Messier 57, is a planetary nebula in the northern constellation of Lyra.
