Fire alarm testing planned Oct. 5 in Schrenk Hall
The City of Rolla Fire and Rescue and Missouri S&T facilities staff will conduct testing on Schrenk Hall’s new fire alarm system tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 5). The alarms will be activated; however, you will not need to evacuate the building during the test.

Interim Chancellor Chris Maples will present S&T’s State of the University address at noon Monday, Oct. 2, in Leach Theatre. He will give a brief university update and then open the floor to audience questions. Staff, faculty and students are encouraged to participate.

TEDx speaker applications, nominations due Oct. 15
Faculty, staff and students, as well as area community members, can apply to present their ideas at a TEDx event Thursday, March 15, on S&T’s campus. The deadline for applications and nominations is Sunday, Oct. 15.
“Dare to Consider” is the theme. Organizers invite you to share your thoughts and ideas on “what it would mean to truly care about thinking, interacting or existing in our classrooms, in our careers, in our communities, in our homes and within ourselves.”

Dr. Clair Kueny, assistant professor of psychology, will speak about organizational teams during a psychology colloquium 1-1:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in Room 318 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Her presentation is named “Responding to Team-Member Initiative: Interpersonal Outcomes of Proactive Behavior.”

According to Dr. Eric Peterson, performing scientific experiments and climbing mountains have much in common — both are filled with exciting and challenging choices and opportunities. Peterson will present the second annual James O. Stoffer Lecture, “A Mountainous Romp in Science and Life,” at 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in Room G3 of Schrenk Hall.
