Policy open forum planned today
Share your thoughts on a proposed policy and updates to a current policy at an open forum 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A and B in the Havener Center. The discussion will focus on a proposed policy to establish guidelines on hoverboards and a proposed update for Missouri S&T’s current policy on developing policies. Missouri S&T staff member dies in vehicle accident
Ron Caraway, a systems security analyst at S&T, was killed in a traffic accident this morning (Nov. 7).

Matthew Qualls, a senior in economics and computer science from Marquand, Missouri, died Nov. 7. He was 21. Funeral arrangements are pending.

By order of U.S. President Donald Trump, all flags at state and government offices will be flown at half-staff, effective immediately, to honor the victims of the Sutherland Springs, Texas, shooting. The order will remain in effect until sunset Thursday, Nov. 9.

Get details on Costa Rica study abroad trip
Earn three credits in English while visiting Costa Rica this summer, from Saturday, May 26, through Friday, June 15, 2018. The trip’s theme is “Costa Rica in Text.” Learn more at an informational meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building. Refreshments will be provided.

The University of Missouri System is looking into the possibility of creating a donated leave program, and Missouri S&T representatives of the UM System committee want to hear thoughts on the program from faculty and staff. Cuba Plain, interim vice chancellor of finance and operations, will host open forums at the following times and locations:
- 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A
- 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in St. Pat’s Ballroom B
Retirement reception planned for Mary Hodge
Please join the printing and mail services staff to celebrate and recognize Mary Hodge’s 34 years of service to S&T at a retirement reception 2:30-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Room G8 Campus Support Facility. Hodge is a senior mail carrier.

Sexual Assault Awareness Week (SAAW) will be observed at Missouri S&T from Monday, Nov. 6, through Friday, Nov. 10. To show support for ending sexual assault, activities during the week will include the booth outside the library, where individuals can pick up a “not on our campus” wristband or ride a seesaw to show support for victims.

Space week begins today, ends Friday with ‘Star Wars’
Several student organizations will host space-related events and activities during Missouri S&T’s Space Week from Monday, Nov. 6, through Friday, Nov. 10. The week will begin with “Experience Space in Virtual Reality,” 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in the Havener Center atrium. A screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” will be held 8:30-11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center. Get a schedule of Space Week events.
