Learn about setting expectations for your students
All early career faculty are invited to the event, “Setting Clear Expectations for Your Class,” 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Room 204 Curtis Laws Wilson Library. Instructional designers will speak about developing or fine-tuning your syllabus to clearly state expectations for students and minimize classroom management issues. Networking and snacks begin at 3:45 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ).

The sixth annual Transportation Infrastructure Conference, hosted by Missouri S&T and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), will be held Friday, Dec. 8, in the Havener Center. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 15. Get more details and register at cies.mst.edu/conference.

Shop Leach Theatre on ‘Black Monday’

Beverly Pogue will be honored for her faithful service to the university and her department at a reception 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 9), in the shop area of the General Services Building. Pogue is an administrative assistant in facilities operations.
Read More »Release party planned for professor’s novels
Living up to his name, Dr. Greg Story will hold a party to celebrate the release of five novels he penned. The event will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the loft at the Public House Brewing Co. in Rolla. Story is an associate professor of physics as well as a novelist. His new novels are named Bohemian Wind, On the Banks of the Socota, Turtles, Vanishing Indiscretions, and Colors of the Mind.

The Rolla Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at 9:25 p.m. yesterday (Nov. 9) at Little Caesars in Rolla. Officers continue to follow up on leads. More information will be posted at alert.mst.edu as it becomes available.

Read More »Funeral arrangements announced for Ron Caraway
Ron Caraway, a systems security analyst, died Nov. 7. Visitation will be held noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel in Salem, Missouri. A memorial service for Caraway will follow at 2 p.m. at the chapel.
