Check out Missouri S&T’s official calendar of events, calendar.mst.edu. The online calendar is your go-to place to learn about events and publicize your events. To make sure your upcoming event has the most visibility possible, simply visit calendar.mst.edu, log in with your university username and password, and submit your event information to the calendar. It’s a free service to all university-affiliated organizations, and it’s the best way to learn about events and inform the campus community of your event.

Parking will be restricted in the parking lot at the corner of 10th Street and Highway 63, Area C Lot 48, on Saturday, May 5, for Sigma Phi Epsilon’s car show.

Students can now sell their used textbooks and return rentals at the S&T Store in the Havener Center. The schedule is:
- 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, and Friday, May 4
- 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 7-11
Dell offers computer rebates
Get $100 back when purchasing a Dell computer that costs more than $499. The offer is available at the S&T Store and the store’s website
Read More »Tomorrow is parking ticket amnesty day
The University Police and parking operations department will host a campus parking ticket amnesty day event 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the parking operations window in Room G-10 Campus Support Facility. In exchange for a $5 cash donation to the Student Emergency Fund/ Campus Commuter Commodities Food Pantry, the two departments will void an unpaid parking ticket. The maximum number of tickets to be voided, per person, will not exceed two tickets at a total of $10 per person. Tickets previously paid will not be voided or reimbursed. This event is only for university-related parking tickets. Only the person who received the parking ticket will be able to apply for amnesty and applicants must bring a campus identification card with them. Applications for amnesty must be done in-person at the parking operations office.

S&T students are sponsoring a blood drive for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks 11 a.m.-5 p.m. today (Thursday, May 3) and tomorrow (Friday, May 4), in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center. Snacks will be provided. Donors will receive a “Let’s taco about donating” T-shirt. The event is sponsored by S&T’s Student Council, Swim Club and Triangle Fraternity.

Dr. Joseph Smith, the Wayne and Gayle Laufer Chair of Energy, served as keynote speaker at a three-day seminar, “International Workshop on Gas Flares,” at Koya University in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The seminar was held to help industries in Iraq reduce their environmental impact in the Middle East region.

Denver Housing buys student-designed solar house
Missouri S&T has sold its SILO House, the 2017 Solar House Design Team project and the team’s entry in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2017 Solar Decathlon, to the city of Denver. The house will serve as moderate- to low-income housing through non-profit organizations.
Read More »Glaser named chair of chemistry
Dr. Rainer Glaser, professor of chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia, has been named chair of chemistry at Missouri S&T. His appointment begins Aug. 1. Glaser takes over from Dr. Philip Whitefield, professor of chemistry, who has served as chair since Sept. 1, 2005. Whitefield will continue to serve S&T as a chemistry faculty member and as director of the Center for Research in Energy and Environment.

The student financial assistance office, currently located in Room G-1 Parker Hall, is moving to Room G-6 Curtis Laws Wilson Library. The office is closed today (Monday, April 30) to accommodate the move. The office will re-open in the new location tomorrow (Tuesday, May 1).
