Student survey results available

The University of Missouri System recently released the results of student climate surveys taken on each of the four UM System campuses. The surveys, which gauge students’ experiences and opinions on sexual misconduct, were conducted in April 2019. Results of Missouri S&T’s student climate survey are available on the S&T Title IX website.

Addiction expert to speak about opioid abuse

Missouri is one of only two states that experienced an increase in opioid overdose deaths in 2018. Dr. Fred Rottneck, a physician, will present a talk, “The Missouri State Opioid Response: Modifying the Response for 2019” 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Oct. 25, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center.

Beware emails connected to scams

The Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce warns the campus community that two emails connected to scams are being sent to local business. One message is about purchasing ad space for the “Best Business Directory” and another message is about paying for a “2019 Best of Rolla Award,” and it is not tied to the local community.

Guides needed for STEM girls’ conference

Women are needed to volunteer as group guides for attendees of the 20th annual Expanding Your Horizons conference, which will be held Friday, Nov. 15, at S&T. The conference introduces seventh- and eighth-grade girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Please sign up to volunteer as a guide by Friday, Oct. 18.
