New DHS rule does not affect S&T students

On Monday afternoon, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a new rule that prohibits international students from returning to or remaining in the U.S. this fall if the universities they attend adopt online-only instruction models. Missouri S&T fully intends to offer on-campus instruction this fall, so this change to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program as stated does not affect students enrolling at Missouri S&T.

CARES Act aid still available for eligible S&T students

Missouri S&T students who are eligible for financial assistance through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) may apply for this aid through S&T’s student financial assistance office.

S&T staff should use main S&T entrance at Phelps Health Annex

Missouri S&T employees who work at the annex connected to Phelps Health should use the main S&T entrance under the portico on the northeast side of the building. If employees use other doors, they may encounter a hospital temperature check and screening station.

Face coverings required in classrooms

To help slow the potential spread of COVID-19 on campus this fall, Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff will wear face coverings in classrooms, labs and common areas or when social distancing is not possible. The requirement on face coverings goes into effect today (Wednesday, July 1) and will continue when the fall semester starts on Monday, Aug. 24.
