Kossuth presents at grad school association meeting

Amanda Kossuth, graduate services specialist for graduate studies, presented “Continuous Improvement: A Journey in Campus Engagement” at the 73rd annual meeting of the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools on April 5 in Indianapolis. Her presentation reviewed the development of a continuous improvement cycle within an accreditation period, highlighting the evolution of assessment of graduate-level learning through a standardized campuswide assessment initiative.

S&T named ‘best value college,’ ranks high in ROI report

Missouri S&T continues to garner recognition for providing a high return on investment for students. S&T was ranked the best value college in Missouri and seventh-best in the nation by SmartAsset.com, a new ranking website that determines its top schools by examining tuition, student living costs, graduates’ starting salary, scholarship and grant offerings, and retention rate. According to the 2017 PayScale College ROI Report, S&T ranks eighth in the nation for ROI, sixth among public universities for in-state students and first among Missouri colleges and universities.

  • Aaron Boots, a junior in electrical engineering and a member of S&T’s Amateur Radio Club, is pictured and mentioned in a magazine published by AARL, the national association for amateur radio.
  • Bill Schonberg, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, was recently interviewed by radio station KCBS in San Francisco regarding the planned launching of so-called “mega-constellation satellites” and their possible effect on the orbital debris environment.

Curators to meet on campus this week

The University of Missouri System Board of Curators will be on campus Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28, for the board’s spring meeting. The board, which is the governing body of the four-campus UM System, will meet in the Havener Center. A schedule, including an open public meeting, will be posted on the UM System’s website on Tuesday, April 25.

Missouri S&T student, chapter recognized by IEEE honor society

Emily Hernandez, a recent Missouri S&T graduate, and the university’s Chapter of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) received awards at the annual meeting of the Electric and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association in Miramar Beach, Florida, on March 20. IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) is the honor society for electrical and computer engineering, with more than 200 chapters worldwide.

Grants awarded for faculty-led study abroad program

The Missouri S&T Study Abroad Advisory Committee awarded $25,000 in grant funds to assist in developing faculty-led short-term study abroad programs.
