Emerson Hall will remain closed until further notice, following a fire on the roof of the structure on Thursday, Dec. 8. University officials decided to keep the building closed following a thorough inspection of the building today, Friday, Dec. 9.
Final examinations previously scheduled at Emerson Hall on Dec. 12 have been relocated. Get details of room changes on the registrar’s website.

Damage to Emerson Hall, following a fire on the roof of the building on Thursday, Dec. 8, is currently being evaluated. We will provide a status update via email and on the S&T alert site, alert.mst.edu, this afternoon (Friday, Dec. 9) about plans for use of the building next week.

The registrar’s office will work with faculty and students to reschedule classes or finals that need to be rescheduled as a result of a fire today at Emerson Hall (EE).

Following the completion of a system-wide audit of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and practices at the University of Missouri System, the university system’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force has released its recommendations for how the university and its campuses can proceed in addressing the issues identified within the report. The audit, conducted by diversity consulting firm IBIS, was part of a series of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives outlined by the University of Missouri Board of Curators on Nov. 9, 2015. Blackboard will be unavailable beginning Dec. 29, instead of Dec. 31, as previously announced. The Educational Technology (EdTech) staff will available every day to assist faculty during and after finals week. The office will be closed for the holidays from Friday, Dec. 23, to Monday, Jan. 1. For assistance transferring course materials from Blackboard to Canvas, the EdTech staff will be available in the Curtis Laws Wilson Library 1-4 p.m. every day until Friday, Dec. 23.

Employees celebrated the season with caroling, conversation and cookie-decorating at the Chancellor’s Holiday Brunch Dec. 6 at Hasselmann Alumni House. In addition to enjoying refreshments and fellowship, attendees helped make the holidays brighter for the local community by donated toys and food for those in need.

Students can fulfill their experiential learning requirement and earn six credit hours next summer during the study abroad trip, “Heroes of Fire and Ice: A Three-Week Study Abroad to Iceland,” May 29-June 17. Dr. Eric Bryan and Dr. Anne Cotterill, associate professors of English and technical communication, will teach courses. Students will spend the first two weeks in Reykjavick, Iceland’s capital city, offering a mixture of modern and medieval Iceland.
