Donate to the Staff Day food auction

Staff Council is seeking donations for the Staff Day food auction, which will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in the front dining area in the Havener Center. Both faculty and staff are welcome to donate and participate in the auction. If you would like to donate food, please email Julie Creamer, business operations associate, at creamerjb@mst.edu. Food donations will be accepted at the back dock of the Havener Center 7-8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17.

Save the date for GeoMO conference

The 2017 GeoMO Conference, “Geophysics and Nondestructive Evaluation in the Assessment and Monitoring of Geotechnical and Infrastructure Systems,” will be held 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in the Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Guest speakers will include Dr. Richard Woods, professor emeritus of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Michigan, and Dr. Nenad Gucunski, professor and chair of environmental engineering at Rutgers University.

Honor student awardees, view artwork at reception May 1

Please join the arts, languages and philosophy department to honor student award recipients and enjoy student artwork, ukulele music and refreshments at a reception 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 1, in the Havener Center Atrium. More than 120 works from students, including drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography and digital art will be displayed. Aerospace engineering expert to present lecture April 27

As part of the MAE Centennial Seminar Series, the mechanical and aerospace engineering department and the Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers will host a presentation by Jeff Thornburg 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Room 199 Toomey Hall Thursday, April 27. Thornburg, president of Insterstellar Technologies LLC, will present “Fast Tracking Innovation in Space Exploration.”

The campus community is invited to an open forum with Dr. Richard Wlezien 3-4 p.m. Monday, May 1. The candidate will participate in a question-and-answer session with CEC faculty 5-6 p.m. that day. Locations for these events will be announced as plans are finalized. Attendees will be asked to share their feedback online.

First CEC dean candidate visiting campus this week

Three candidates for the vice provost and dean position in the College of Engineering and Computing have been invited for campus interviews beginning this week. Faculty, staff and students are invited to an open forum with the first candidate 3-4 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall.

The first candidate will visit campus Thursday and Friday, April 27-28. The first candidate’s bio and curriculum vitae will be posted on provost.mst.edu/cec-dean-search Tuesday, April 25. The second candidate will visit campus Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2. The second candidate’s bio and CV will be posted on provost.mst.edu/cec-dean-search Saturday, April 29. Dates for the third candidate’s visit are to be determined and will be announced when finalized.
