Friday’s open house to bring families to campus
More than 100 prospective students and their families will be on campus Friday, April 6, for an open house. The all-day event will start with a welcome at Havener Center and include an information fair, formal presentations, campus and residential life tours, and academic department visits. The admissions staff thanks everyone in the campus community for welcoming these families as they learn about S&T.

Jazz up your Friday with concert
Come out to Leach Theatre for an evening of jazz under the direction of Dave Cress at 7 p.m. Friday, April 6. A “pre-concert” featuring the S&T Jazz Combo will start at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for the public and free for Missouri S&T students with student ID and youth age 18 and younger. Tickets can be purchased in the Leach Theatre Box Office.

The new student programs department is selling T-shirts for anyone to purchase. The theme of the shirt design is “Miner Nation” to represent S&T’s campus community. The front of the shirt features S&T’s logo and the back features a list of countries represented at the university, with the words “Miner Nation” highlighted. The idea behind the design is that S&T is a diverse university, we welcome all to our campus, and our ties to the world reach globally.

Faculty members can rent regalia for commencement through the S&T Store. Please place your order by Friday, April 27, at the store, by calling 341-4981, or email Mark Gallardo, bookstore manager, at gallardom@mst.edu. The regalia sets come with a gown, cap and tassel. Submit email orders to Gallardo with the following information: last name, first name, phone number, height in feet and inches, weight in pounds, and school information (name and location). Please note if you have your own hood.

Promote autism awareness and autism acceptance by wearing the color blue Monday, April 2. The Havener Center will “Light It Up Blue” with blue exterior lighting as part of the observance throughout the month. On April 3, blue and white balloons will be displayed on campus to demonstrate support.

The campus community is invited to honor Joyce Abbott during a retirement reception 2:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Puck. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be moved to Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall’s atrium.

Casting Call for faculty and students set for April 3-4
The marketing and communications department is looking for undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty who are interested in being “on call” for various creative and marketing opportunities throughout the academic year. In exchange for spending about 20-30 minutes of their time with the marketing and communications team on either April 3 or April 4, they will receive a free lunch and an exclusive S&T T-shirt.
