Union Pacific to sponsor Opening Week project

Union Pacific will once again sponsor Project X — the Opening Week team project for all new freshmen. Union Pacific will have representatives on the campus Opening Week to assist our new students with programs and to judge their projects. New students who attend Opening Week, which starts Saturday, Aug. 15, will be divided into 85 mentor groups and will have the opportunity to create a vehicle which will be judged on several objectives — design, creativity, presentation and journal. The week finishes on Friday, Aug. 21, with awards given out to the top teams. The awards ceremony will be held at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the Havener Center.

Spirit of Change movement to inspire students

The Spirit of Change is a movement of students inspiring students. Whether it is a free cup of coffee or an umbrella in the rain, the Blue Key Honor Society inspires other students by performing random acts of kindness throughout the semester. Fundraising takes place for the Spirit of Change during Opening Week and the first week of school.

Butler-Carlton chiller to be replaced

Students to present additive manufacturing symposium today

Nine undergraduate students and one high school student from around the U.S. have performed research this summer on additive manufacturing technologies and will speak at a symposium to be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 29) in the Havener Center atrium. Projects range from printing optics to aerosol printing to flexible electronics. Research will be presented in poster-session format. Light refreshments will be served. Students to present REU symposium today

The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program will host a symposium 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 29) in the Havener Center atrium. Eleven undergraduates from around the U.S. have performed research this summer on renewable energy technologies. Their projects range from solar power system sizing to green roofs to biomass and will be presented in poster-session format. Light refreshments will be served. Parking fee changes take effect Aug. 1

New parking rates for faculty, staff, students and campus visitors will take effect starting Saturday, Aug. 1, for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Annual rates for reserve or designated permits will increase by 3 percent for the year, from $127.90 to $131.80. Universal parking permits will also increase by 3 percent, from $255.80 to $263.50.
