A recording of the general digital accessibility training is now available in Percipio for those who could not attend a live session.

In April 2024, the Department of Justice issued a new rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, requiring public higher education institutions to provide fully accessible digital content by April 24, 2026.

This training serves as a strong starting point and will address the needs of most users. For those with more specialized roles or responsibilities – including web developers – more detailed training will follow.

The session, offered by the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) and the Digital Accessibility Task Force, covers:

  • The importance of digital accessibility for students, faculty and staff
  • Color contrast and readability
  • Writing effective ALT text for images
  • Creating accessible PDF documents
  • Accessibility features in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Additional tools and tips for inclusive content.

The training is designed for anyone who creates course materials, manages web content, or supports administrative functions. To access the recording, visit Percipio.

For questions, email Carol Tohlen, director of student accessibility and testing, or Kimber Crull, manager of internal and executive communications.
