Student Involvement is Hiring Peer Involvement Advisors

The Student Involvement Center is seeking in-person Peer Involvement Advisors for the Fall 2022 semester.  Starting pay is $8.60/hour. Work hours vary, averaging 5 hours per week. Peer Involvement Advisor Job Description

The primary purpose of the Peer Involvement Advisor (PIA) will be to provide resources for campus involvement and help raise awareness of the importance of being involved. The PIA will serve as a bridge between new and uninvolved students and Student Involvement. Some tasks include coordinating MinerRama and Spring O’Rama involvement fairs, working tabling booths during PRO Days, participating in Opening Week Activities, general office duties, etc. This position will be under the direct advisement of the Program Administrator for Campus Engagement within the Office of Student Involvement.

The PIA will work 4-5 hours per week in the Peer Involvement Advisor Office in 218 Havener Center, with the understanding that there will be times when they will be required to work over these hours or work less hours due to the flexible nature of this position. The PIA will be expected to work events and complete tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Tabling inside and outside for several events including A&R Days, MinerRama, and Spring O’Rama, and Miner Immersion
  • Promote the PIA program with booth handouts
  • Present to organizations, in classes, and for a wide variety of individuals and groups across campus
  • Organize one-on-one consultations with individual students
  • Attend weekly PIA Team Meetings
  • Participate in other campus activities to promote campus involvement and the PIA program
  • Be required to participate in Opening Week Activities
  • Assist in the New RSO Approval Process
  • Various other office tasks 

Qualifications:

  • Must be full-time student at S&T, preferably for full academic year
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Two or more years of leadership experience with an RSO or equivalent
  • Highly engaged within the RSO community
