Study abroad at UWC this fall

The University of Missouri System, through the UM South African Education Program Committee (UMSAEP), awards Henry Mitchell Scholarships each year in the amount of $2,000 to four UM students, one from each UM campus, to study at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. The system also funds up to two University of the Western Cape students to study at UM campuses. Apply for the scholarship by Sunday, March 1. For more information on how to apply, contact the study abroad advisor at menands@mst.edu or visit the study abroad offices in Room 104 Norwood Hall.

Learn about Boren Scholarships

Encourage your students to attend a presentation about the Boren Scholarships 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Room 101 Emerson Hall. Scholarships for semester and year-long study abroad for both undergraduates and graduate students are available. There is also a new $8,000 scholarship for STEM students to attend an eight-week summer study abroad program. A representative from the Boren Scholarship will make a presentation on opportunities for students who want to study abroad.

Faculty and staff should encourage students to attend the “Study Abroad Fair,” 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in the Havener Center atrium to learn about the many study abroad opportunities available to students at Missouri S&T. Questions about how classes transfer, language requirements (if any), application process, deadlines, life abroad, financial aid and study abroad in general will be answered.
