Scare up some fun at staff event on Halloween
Employees work hard and Staff Council wants to say “thanks” at an appreciation event for staff 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. Come enjoy snacks and hot drinks by a campfire, bring a decorated or carved pumpkin for a contest and dress up for a costume contest. The event will also include prize drawings and games.

Read More »Staff scholarship goes to Lt. Oscar Kemp
Like the students he serves and protects, Lt. Oscar Kemp will be hitting the books this semester. Beth Abner, president of Staff Council, presented the council’s inaugural employee scholarship to Kemp, an officer with University Police, during a Staff Council meeting on July 13. The $250 scholarship will go towards Kemp’s tuition this fall as he pursues a bachelor’s degree.

Staff Council will sponsor a “Hometown Heroes Save Lives” blood drive 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, June 29, and Friday, June 30, in St. Pat’s A and B of the Havener Center. Free t-shirts and snacks will be given to all participants.

Staff Council seeks volunteers to help work booths and other areas during Staff Day Wednesday, May 17. The council also seeks basket donations from departments for a silent auction. To volunteer or donate a basket, please contact Kathy Inman, administrative assistant, at 341-7677. If you would like to donate a basket, please list the items included and how much each item costs.

Employees at Butler-Carlton Hall donated 271 items for food and toy drives in November, giving the highest number at an S&T building and garnering a traveling trophy. Staff Council members collected the donations throughout campus and delivered them to Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise (GRACE) for those in need. Beth Abner, human resources representative and chair of Staff Council, presented Darlene Turner, administrative associate, with the traveling trophy for Butler-Carlton Hall.
