The University of Missouri System recently released the results of student climate surveys taken on each of the four UM System campuses. The surveys, which gauge students’ experiences and opinions on sexual misconduct, were conducted in April 2019. One in six American women are victims of sexual assault, according to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN). “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” asks men to literally walk a mile in high-heeled shoes to help start the conversation on gender relations. Join the Miner Wellness team at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Havener Center for a resource fair. The walk will start at 6 p.m. Shoes will be provided.Read More »
Doug Roberts, chief of University Police, recognized two students at a ceremony on Oct. 24 for their heroic actions in helping a victim and ending a sexual assault. Sexual Assault Awareness Week (SAAW) will be observed at Missouri S&T from Monday, Nov. 6, through Friday, Nov. 10. To show support for ending sexual assault, activities during the week will include the booth outside the library, where individuals can pick up a “not on our campus” wristband or ride a seesaw to show support for victims.Read More »
Missouri S&T students with a valid student I.D. can receive free tickets for the Miner League Theatre Players performance of “Good Kids.” Free student tickets must be reserved in advance at the box office by calling 341-4219. Students will be asked to show their I.D. when they pick up the tickets.
“Good Kids,” a play about sexual assault, will be performed in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 31, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
Students in several courses will receive extra credit for attending the play. Faculty members are asked to remind their students of this policy and that free tickets are still available.Read More »
