Recent graduate earns Fulbright grant to teach in Russia

Owen Smith, a 2017 physics graduate, has received a Fulbright scholarship grant to study in Russia from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Smith will be an English-language teaching assistant at a Russian university for the academic year from September 2018 to June 2019.

Fifty years of research culminates in international award

The International Board on the Applications of the Mössbauer Effect recently granted its 2017 Science Award to Dr. Gary J. Long. Long is a professor of chemistry and has served on S&T’s faculty since 1968. He received the award in recognition of his “high-level works and outstanding contributions to physical chemistry and chemical physics using the Mössbauer effect.”
