Beware of scams

University Police has received a complaint of attempted fraud related to unsolicited telephone calls. The department reminds the campus community to keep the following tips in mind when receiving a phone call or email:

  • No reputable company or organization will call you to tell you owe taxes or have an unpaid debt, such as electricity or telephone. No legitimate company will require you to send funds electronically or place funds on a pre-paid card to satisfy a debt. If in doubt, hang up the phone and call the police.

Students step up, stop sexual assault

Doug Roberts, chief of University Police, recognized two students at a ceremony on Oct. 24 for their heroic actions in helping a victim and ending a sexual assault. Roberts presented Addis Greene, a senior in computer engineering, and Sidney Webster, a senior in computer science, with plaques and Missouri S&T STEP UP! Pins.

Something suspicious going on? Call S&T Police. An emergency? Call 911

The Missouri S&T Police Department reminds the campus its officers and security guards are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call them any time for non-emergencies (for example, suspicious activity) at 573-341-4300. Whenever there is an emergency that requires the police, fire department or ambulance, call 911.

Five candidates invited to interview for director position
