When Phoenix Schmidt, a first-year student in civil engineering, and two friends found themselves stranded after a minor accident on a frigid night, it wasn’t just any first responder who came to their rescue — it was Officer Keith Rader from S&T Police, who became what Schmidt affectionately called “the best ‘Uber’ driver” as he safely delivered the shivering students home. This compassionate approach demonstrates why Missouri S&T celebrates its dedicated police during National Police Week, May 11-17, recognizing officers who provide vital protection and services that extend beyond traditional law enforcement.

Thanks to campus and community donors, University Police raised $5,500, surpassing last year’s donations by $4,000.
