Hurst to talk on 50-year career at O’Keefe Lecture

Lindell R. (Bob) Hurst, former senior corrosion and materials engineer for Shell Oil Company and an alumnus of S&T, will present at the 13th annual Dr. Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture. Hurst’s presentation, “Lessons from a 50-year Career as a Metallurgical Engineer,” will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the Planje Auditorium, Room 204 McNutt Hall.

Dr. Lucie Johannes Sommer, a metallurgical engineering graduate, will give the 10th annual Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in Room 204 McNutt Hall. A reception will precede the lecture at 2:45-3:15 p.m. in McNutt Hall Commons. Her lecture is titled “Career Paths: A Metallurgical Engineer’s Path at NASA.”

Dr. William E. Horst will present the sixth annual Dr. Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Planje Auditorium, Room 204 McNutt Hall. Horst’s lecture is titled “Life after MSM: Reflections on a Mineral Processing Career.” A reception honoring Horst will be held 2:45-3:30 p.m. in the McNutt Hall commons.
