Read More »PhD Candidate, Siddesh Umapathi, wins Missouri S&T 3MT Competition
Siddesh Umapathi, a PhD Candidate in the Chemistry Department, came in 1st place at the Missouri S&T 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition on Thursday, February 7th 2019. During the 3MT competition, participants have just three minutes to explain the fullness and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience. Out of 18 talented contestants, Umapathi wowed the judges with his fascinating research presentation entitled “Keep the cars running: Hydrogen as a potential fuel”. His concise and effective representation of his research and his charismatic presentation allowed him to take home the 1st place position.
Umapathi will move on to represent Missouri S&T at the regional 3MT competition on March 20-22 in St. Louis, Missouri at the annual meeting of the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS). Graduate students from across the region will present their research and compete for a spot at the National competition.
‘Making learning visible for effective teaching’ is topic of keynote
Dr. Claire Howell Major, professor of higher education at the University of Alabama, will give the keynote address at S&T’s annual Teaching and Learning Technology Conference at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall.

Dr. Claire Howell Major, professor of higher education at the University of Alabama, will give the keynote address at S&T’s annual Teaching and Learning Technology Conference on the topic, “Learning Assessment: Making Learning Visible as an Essential Element of Effective Teaching” at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, in Butler-Carlton Hall 125.
