Dr. Claire Howell Major, professor of higher education at the University of Alabama, will give the keynote address at S&T’s annual Teaching and Learning Technology Conference on the topic, “Learning Assessment: Making Learning Visible as an Essential Element of Effective Teaching” at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14, in Butler-Carlton Hall 125. Please register by March 1 at tlt.mst.edu.
Major will share about how regular activities that faculty normally use to gauge student learning can be harnessed in a powerful process that can inform teaching and improve learning. The session will include how to link learning goals, instructional practices and assessment activities in a seamless whole.
Major is the author of several books including her most recent, “Learning Assessment Techniques: A Handbook for College Faculty,” co-authored with Elizabeth Barkley.
The all-day, regional TLT conference during spring recess is free, and includes a number of break-out sessions, meals, a vendors’ reception, door prizes and other giveaways.
