Missouri S&T hosted the spring 2024 UM Advise, the University of Missouri System advising summit, on Thursday, Feb. 29. This one-day event, with the theme “Solving for Tomorrow,” provided an opportunity for colleagues to share knowledge and reflect on advising practices.

Veterans advising for tomorrow: Jason Newton
After serving in many advising roles in his military career and while in civilian jobs, he learned that he loved working with others to help achieve their goals. When new advising roles were introduced on campus, he jumped at the opportunity and, in March 2022, became an academic advisor for computer science.
