Read More »Dr. Joe Stanley, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, was recently presented with IEEE-USA’s Professional Achievement Award for Individuals. An IEEE senior member, Stanley was honored for his contributions to Project Lead the Way (PLTW), a nationwide K-12 STEM program that provides educators with intensive summer training at leading universities. Together with three “master teachers,” Stanley has co-trained about 150 teachers in a digital electronics course over the last decade and has helped develop new resources for PLTW to enhance teachers’ effectiveness in presenting the curriculum to students.

The three-year term will run 2016-2018. Watkins was one of four at-large members elected — the entire board consists of society officers, 12 at-large members and committee chairs.
Read More »Dr. Sanjay Madria, professor of computer science, and his recent Ph.D. graduate Dr. Vimal Kumar earned the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Best Research Paper Award for the paper “Distributed Attribute Based Access Control of Aggregated Data in Sensor Clouds.” The two were presented with the award at the 34th IEEE Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems, which was held Sept. 28-Oct. 1 in Montreal. This work is supported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology as a multi-year grant contract for the project titled “Secure Sensor Cloud.”

Zoughi’s talk, titled “Evolution of Microwave and Millimeter Wave Imaging for NDE Applications,” provided an overview of new, 3-D imaging techniques for non-destructive evaluation of materials.
