Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine is getting national exposure on a TV show called Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour on the A&E Network. Tune in at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, July 18). The time is listed as 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (ET) on the website but will air at 8 p.m. Central Standard Time (CT). Watch a preview of tonight’s show, “I am Ice Cream Man.”

Military program matches grad student with research mentors

Ph.D. student Barbara Rutter discovered that she would like to work for the Department of Justice on counter-domestic terrorism research after she graduates, thanks to an educational program offered by the U.S. Army. Rutter, a graduate student in explosives engineering and a veteran of the U.S. Marines who served a tour in Afghanistan, was selected for the Army Educational Outreach Program’s (AEOP) College Qualified Leaders (CQL) program. She was featured in the AEOP Alumni Spotlight newsletter in March.

Blowing up Barbie — Essay examines explosives camp

In his new book, “Digging In: Further Collected Writings of Jay Nordlinger,” the National Review senior editor compiles essays. Originally published in the July 15, 2013, issue of National Review, Nordlinger’s book includes an essay about Missouri S&T’s explosives camp and Dr. Paul Worsey, professor of mining engineering and director of explosives education.
