CEC meeting coming up
The College of Engineering and Computing invites all CEC faculty and staff to attend an open meeting 2:30-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. An informal reception will follow the meeting and refreshments will be served in the atrium of Butler-Carlton.
Read More »CEC names 10 students as Dean’s Ph.D. Scholars
Ten doctoral students in the College of Engineering and Computing have been named Dean’s Ph.D. Scholars in recognition of their scholarly excellence and research productivity. The award winners were nominated by professors in their home departments and honored at an end-of-semester campus reception in May. The recognition follows the launch of similar CEC awards in the 2016-17 academic year for top faculty researchers and those who excel in the classroom. Read More »McMillin named to ABET commission
Dr. Bruce McMillin, associate dean for research and external relations in the College of Engineering and Computing and professor of computer science, has been appointed to the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Computing Accreditation Commission. ABET is a non-governmental organization that accredits post-secondary education programs in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. The appointment is effective in July.

Dr. John Myers has been selected as a top educator by the Architectural Engineering Institute. Myers is associate dean of academic affairs for the College of Engineering and Computing, and a professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering.

To celebrate excellence in the classroom and contributions toward student service, four Missouri S&T faculty members are being honored by the College of Engineering and Computing with the title of Dean’s Educator Scholar. Read More »Search committee formed for CEC dean
Dr. Kamal Khayat, the Vernon and Maralee Jones Professor of Civil Engineering, will serve as chair of the College of Engineering and Computing vice provost and dean search committee. Jeff Harris, partner with Harris Search Associates, and Tim McIntosh, manager of executive initiatives for the University of Missouri System, will facilitate the search process. Faculty, staff and students attended open forums about the search process and desired dean attributes Dec. 5-6. Additional open forums will be held in January. One goal of the search process is for the selected dean to begin at Missouri S&T by September 2017.

Visitors to the College of Engineering and Computing dean’s office no longer need to use the construction entrance in the east stairwell of McNutt Hall. All visitors to the office can resume use of the main entrance, located at Room 305 McNutt Hall.
