Read More »Dr. Daniel Oerther, professor of environmental engineering, has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidate from 2016-2021. The Fulbright Specialist Program is a recent innovation that promotes links between U.S. scholars and professionals and their counterparts at host institutions overseas through short-term exchanges of two to six weeks in duration with up to three exchanges to different countries occurring in a five year window.
Read More »Dr. Lesley Sneed, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been recognized by the American Concrete Institute for moving building codes forward. Sneed served as principle investigator of a project titled “Interface Shear Transfer of Lightweight Aggregate Concretes with Different Lightweight Aggregates.” The findings from this research proposed revisions to the next edition of the ACI 318 code and PCI Design Handbook for shear-friction design provisions of a smooth interface condition.

Oerther, the John A. and Susan Mathes Chair of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has earned the Superior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES) for his work to improve water quality in the Ixcan region of Guatemala. The award will be presented April 14 at the academy’s annual Excellence in Environmental Engineering and Science celebration at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Read More »Dr. Kamal Khayat, the Vernon and Maralee Jones Professor of Civil Engineering and director of the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies, recently presented at the 2015 FLOW-3D Americas Users Conference. His talk, presented in collaboration with Masoud Hosseinpoor and Ammar Yahia of the Université de Sherbrooke in Canada, was titled “Numerical simulation of dynamic segregation of self-consolidating concrete in L-Box and T-Box test setups using FLOW-3D.”

Visitation will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. at James and Gahr Mortuary, 1651 E. Highway 72 in Rolla. Memorial contributions are suggested to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
