RESPOND training planned Jan. 9

Counseling Services will present a University of Missouri System-licensed program, RESPOND, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, St. Pat’s A Ballroom of the Havener Center. There is no cost to attend. RESPOND was designed to train students, faculty and staff on how to recognize and provide initial assistance to people with mental health concerns.

Curators approve plans to move forward on Biosciences Complex

The third and final phase of the Biosciences Complex at Missouri S&T is included in the list of major construction and renovation projects approved by the University of Missouri System Board of Curators on Nov. 10. The curators’ approval of this project — further renovation and expansion of Schrenk Hall, which houses the chemistry and biological sciences departments — means it is now on a short list of capital projects that includes a project from each University of Missouri System campus and MU Health Care, or five projects in all. These projects will be further evaluated for consideration at a March 2018 meeting of the Board of Curators Finance Committee. Get more details.

Maples to continue as interim chancellor through May 2019

University of Missouri System President Mun Y. Choi has announced that Dr. Christopher G. Maples, interim chancellor of Missouri S&T since May 2017, will continue to serve in that capacity through May 31, 2019. Maples’ original appointment was for one year. The UM System Board of Curators approved the extension of his appointment during the board’s meeting on Nov. 10 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Read more.
