Step challenge update

With the recent cancelation of performances by the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra due to COVID concerns, prizes to be awarded as part of the Leach Theatre’s 15,000-step step challenge have been revised. Participants in the challenge will have the option to select a ticket to the April 29 performance by the Drifters and the Platters. They may also opt for a voucher redeemable next year for a ticket to a 2022-2023 Campus Performing Arts Series event.

K-12 tutoring begins this week

The Kummer Center for STEM Education will offer free academic tutoring to K-12 students throughout the spring semester. Drop-in tutoring is available 3:30-6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Room 104 of Centennial Hall. No formal request for drop-in tutoring is required.

Miner women’s basketball team plays Indianapolis this afternoon

Capping off a weekend of Missouri S&T basketball, the women’s team will play Indianapolis this afternoon at 4 p.m. in a rescheduled game. The game takes place at Gibson Arena. Admission to all S&T students, faculty and staff is free. .

Register for child sex trafficking documentary, discussion

The student diversity Initiatives welcomes the Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition to S&T for a free showing of Hope Road, a documentary about child sex trafficking at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Bertelsmeyer Hall. A Q&A session with the producer and director will follow the screening. Dinner will be provided.

ACUE Lunch and Learn Series begins next week

Almost 60 S&T faculty completed the program on effective online teaching practices offered by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) that wrapped up last June. The first in a monthly series of lunchtime sessions focused on what was learned by program participants will take place at noon Thursday, Jan. 27 on Zoom.

Testing and student disability services is now student accessibility and testing (SAT)

Effective Jan. 1, S&T’s testing and student disability services became student accessibility and testing (SAT). The name was changed to better reflect the department’s role in partnering with students, faculty and staff to address disability-related barriers, ensure recognition of students’ abilities and facilitate access to learning opportunities across S&T.

S&T to host COVID-19 vaccine clinic

In partnership with Phelps Health, Missouri S&T will host a walk-in Pfizer vaccine clinic 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center. Individuals may get their first or second dose or a booster shot. If you have been vaccinated, bring your current vaccination record with you.
